Yes! You may have been first about 3 times Mrs. Duncan, but me? Ha! Ha! Ha! 6! Oh, it's feels good to be alive. so, Mrs. Duncan, is this like your blog, or what because, my plans for this summer are to read as many books as you. So, to make this possible.................................................................bye.
I just finished the Morganville series. Wow- all 4 books are great. Each one holds a different plot, new twists, unexpected events, and interesting characters. As I mentioned before, some PG-13 stuff... similar to City of Bones. [Don't freak- no one is related and dating!].
The author JUST emailed me and said she would love to support our reading program! Oh yeah! She's sending book 5 in PDF form for us to preview. I also asked her about her other books. I'll let you know when she responds.
you know I was hopeing that hayden wasn't going to be the first to blogger to blog but,of couse right when I see the page theres Hayden saying about it's his 6 time being the 1st blogger to blog all I really want to do this summer is read I'm currently reading Twilight(as you can see by my picture)which is soooo amazing! My moms almost done with New Moon and was sad that "you know who went you know where"She thought I was crazy when I didn't have Eclipse because I bowrrowed(spelling error) It from Mrs.D So that's one trip to Barnes and Noble we have to go to I have a very long list of books I need to read this summer see you dogbloggers later! If I have any spelling errors I'm sorry but I don't really care ):
It's okay, Sydney, I think we've all figured that out by now. :D Just kidding, really, I love you.
Hey, Hayden, no surprise that you're here--how's life? What books have you read?
And Mrs. Duncan, I need to read those, they sound really good from what I've heard about them...UGH, CoB made me so mad. Again, I feel dirty because I want them to be together despite what they are... *shudder* Your theory abotu Stephen better be right. I just finished Wildwood Dancing and Cybele's Secret, and they were AMAY--DANG IT--AMAZING. I'm going to start The Naming today.
So, I guess I have a new idea. I'll keep in touch with all my VAPA friends by way of these blogs. WHAT did we ever do without them?
I would very much like to read and review the sequel of Night Tourist. If that's all right with you. ^.^
Also, Mrs. Duncan, there's a great new book coming out this September (hopefully) called "Adventures of Grammar Girl and Genius Boy." DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE NAME. It is absolutely hysterical. The author has a great, quirky sense of humor--best of all, it's a better way to learn grammar, something almost everyone seems to hate.
It's meant to be read like a script--assign people parts and read it together. It's also a bit like a comic book. Here's the website: http://grammarnation.com/ There's a free download of the sample textbook. Trust me--I've been reading about this and looking at concept art since I was really little. :D
You got it Allie. I'll bring one over for you on Friday. I still don't know our exact schedule for the 4th, but when I do, I'll let you know.
The book by your uncle sounds great. Is it possible to get a copy to preview? I would love to look at it.
City of Bones. Funny thing- when I met Cassie Clare I asked her if she thought I was twisted because I liked the relationship between Jace and Clary. She just smiled and said no. Forbidden love. What is it about the passion that cannot be? Makes you wish for it all the more. City of Glass ARCs are coming- I'll be sure to save you one. ;-) Then we will find out the truth.
One theory I came up with [ I just read COB again] is that Jace is Valentine's child but Clary is Luke's. They mention that she is pregnant after her time with the wolves- after she ran away from Valentine. What do you think? Luke risks everything for Clary [and her mother] so it might be possible.
I'll see is Cassandra Clare will blog- maybe she will throw us a bone [haha]
Allie, in response to your question, life is an adventure. How else would I answer the question? Mrs. Duncan, just so you know, if you possibly, oh, I don't know, just happen to be in the neighborhood in July, say, on the fourth, I might really, really, really neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed a COPY OF THE TWILIGHT PRISONER RIGHT NOW, I HAVE TO, HAVE TO, HAVE TO, REEEAD IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please.
So, plans for the summer! Well, first, I will be taking a trip to Alpine camp with my church, a lovely little place right down the road from Big Bear Lake. Then , I tag along with my dad as he speaks at a camp of his own. Finally, my family goes to Pine Mountain Lake, stays in a cabin, and goes to Yosemite National Park.
If interested, my plan for the summer is to read more than these.
LIST O' BOOKS
1. Land of the Silver Apples by Nancy Farmer
2. Abarat by Clive Barker
3. Left Behind by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye
4. Tribulation Force by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye
You got it Hayden. Thanks for not growling at me :-) I also picked up books at Barnes and Noble if you want more to read. I'll bring them [along with The Twilight Prisoner- it looks soooo good!] on the 4th. I want to take a picture of kids holding the books for Ms. Marsh, so make sure to brush your curls!
I just finished another great book. It's called War of the Witches by Maite Carranza. I think I'll bring it for Allie. I also bought:
Fire Bringer by David Clement-Davies The Magic Thief by Sarah Prineas Pandora Gets Jealous by Carolyn Hennesy Savvy by Ingrid Law Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
Fire Bringer is a YA book, but the rest are YR. There wern't many choices in the YA section this time, so I bought books from the back. They all look good. Let me know Hayden what you want. Your summer plans sound great. It's cool that you get to spend quality time with your dad.
AAAH! Mrs. Duncan, that sounds so great. I can't wait to see you guys today. :D And the War of the Witches sounds really good. I CAN'T WAIT. *clap clap clap*
You are so right about the forbidden passion thing. It makes everything so much more interesting. Oh, I started writing a fanfiction yesterday when the lightning bolt of genius was thrown by the heavens and landed square on me. Twilight. What if Bella hadn't jumped, and what would have happened after. *evil grin*
Camp sounds cool, Hayden. Life IS an adventure, how could I forget? No need to respond, that was rhetorical. But you may respond to this: is your head feeling better? Let's not walk up the slide today.
Allie, I'll bring the books to your house when I pick up the twins. You will really enjoy War of the Witches and The Magic Thief. Both are great reads.
Hayden, I'll bring your ARC too... don't worry, be happy!
I'm getting ready to start The Princetta by Anne-Laure Bondoux. The cover is haunting... it looks really good. I'll let you know! xoxo
Thanks for linking to my book, The Magic Thief. I hope you get a chance to read it, and then maybe the ARC of the sequel, The Magic Thief: Lost. This week on my blog, I'll be doing a post on how the illustrations for the book were done, from sketches to final versions--stop by and check it out! (http://sarah_prineas.livejournal.com.
I stumbled onto this open page on the computer and I have to answer the question. For Fun!!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Well I have done some reading. I actually read The Looking Glass Wars and totally enjoyed it. It is a miracle! I actually started and finished a book within a year. Whoa!!! Go figure :) It is the kind of book I would love to use as an illustration for a lesson or talk sometime, except, most folks have never heard of the book, so I will stow it away until the movie comes out. I have also been milling over a book titled Experiencing God. Too much in the book to blow through. It's one a person has to read a section and think about, journal and process before moving on. Good stuff to know in that one. I have been hanging with the family... getting to know my kids in new ways because we have been together way more than we are during the school year. I have been surfing, swimming, bike riding, trying to lose some weight, doing some sketching and am preparing for two weeks of camp coming starting Saturday. I have also been doing some work around to the house to get ready for our big 4th of July party. It was a huge success!!! Looking forward to next year already. Yup! ! ! ! All for now. Surf's Up!
Well, I got back from Italy this morning at 1:00 (MAJOR flight delay). Been there for 3 weeks and had a GREAT time!!!! Went up to the Abruzzo mountains, a lot of towns, Monte Cassino, and Rome (saw Colosseum, Forum, Vatican City, and a lot of the town squares). Didn't get a chance to go to Pompeii. Flight was good but long. However, had to wait a loooonnnnggg time and lost a suitcase coming back. It never got on the plane in Rome. Of course it had to be my suitcase. Always has to be me. I think they target 12 year old girls because both times, going to and coming back, the security people have teased and tried to scare me. Which is why I growl at them and get weird looks. Also drove my parents crazy by babbling constantly. Anyway.... had a really fun time!!! I've read a couple of books so far and plan to read a lot more. I'm so excited that the Twilight Prisoner came out! I can't wait to read it!! Bye!!!!
R2- I'm glad you liked The Looking Glass Wars; I did too. It also sounds like your summer will be filled with amazing family times and reconnection with God. Cool. My kiddos are all at camp this week. In fact, you might see M&K at Sugar Pine- if that is where you're speaking. Tommy is white water rafting in Klammoth-he's probably having a ball. All of this made possible by North Coast Church.
Goldie- welcome home! I cannot wait to hear all about your trip. Did you take lots of pictures? What an awesome opportunity for you- you're a lucky-ducky... 3 weeks of vacation! Did your suitcase ever make it back?
I came home from Maui on the 12th. It was beautiful there...but I didn't get to stay long enough. I put a small slideshow of pics on my homepage... check it out! I have lots more to share once school is back in session.
Hayden- I have some books to add to my reading tally. Just a few, actually. I stopped for a while to read the material for the conference. "Literacy and Youth" , "Wiki's in the Classroom" that kind of stuff. Non-fiction reading...interesting and informative. We will have our own Wiki page for the News. I've named it already: Getting Wiki With It. My instructor loved it, said I was very creative.Oh yeah! :-)
I'll have to say... I CAN'T WAIT FOR BREAKING DAWN! Aug. 2...hurry up! I need my Edward fix. xoxo
Oh yeah- Goldie- you will like The Princetta by Anne-Laure Bondoux. The ending is unexpected- but the plot is great. Maybe we can meet and I'll bring you The Princetta and The Twilight Prisoner. Let me know! xoxo
I've had this great overdose of Edward lately, I cannot ignore how much I need Breaking Dawn RIGHT NOW. I've even been reading fanfics about it. I usually NEVER read fanfics for Twilight books, usually more than half of them are really badly written. But I'm just in such a vampire mood...
Re-read Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse. It will make you feel so much better. Plus, it will refresh your memory for Breaking Dawn. At least read Eclipse- although the ending made my heart bleed [no pun intended] for Jacob.
xoxoxoxo
Or- read the new Vampire Diaries books- I loved them!
Mmmm...I lent out Twilight to my Tita Nitz...she'll enjoy it, she LOVED Spetimus Heap and she'd heard a bit about Twilight. She'll be ranting and raving to me in a couple days or so. :D
I just finished rereading Eclipse today, actually, because Mom isn't letting me take New Moon out of her room--she's reading it and if I so much as touch it it will be off her bedside table and somewhere else. So she says. I have this feeling that it's true, though. *sigh* And then my aunt who I don't like let me have Ink Exchange! Who'da thunk.
Why is that romantic? Why do I think that's romantic? For some twisted reason, I do. In fact, it was one of my favorite lines in New Moon.
My VERY favorite Eclipse parts... I can break it down to 3.
1. When Jacob licks Bella in the wearwolf/vampire meeting [and Edward growls. There's something appealing about that.] Again, disturbing.
2. The tent scene "Control your thoughts man!" Poor Edward, reading Jacob's mind while he was snuggled up to Bella. Amusing and romantic.
3. When Edward tells Bella they cannot move further in their "physical" relationship.. and he says something like, "I have no heart to give, all I have is my virtue. I want you to have it the right way."
You're not alone, Mrs. Duncan. I, honestly, cannot get enough of Edward's feral snarling. He needs to be a vampire every once in a while, too much self control.
Which reminds me, he needs to lose some of it. Not to be ew, but...Bella did make that a demand.
...
What are my favorite parts, I have to think.
1. The look in Edward's eyes when he proposes. (I AM SUCH A SAP NOW.)
2. The Edward-Victoria fight. (Now that's hot.)
3. "And when you thought she'd died...?" "I can't explain that. There aren't words." (I almost cried of the love here. Seriously.)
And those were off the top of my head, there are many others. OH:
4. The fury that was going to put grizzlies to shame. That wasn't really. Just another cute snuggly scene. ^^
Never again will I use a smiley like that. THAT WAS IT. It's just xD, :D, and =) now, with the occasional :) and D: variation.

I added Mr. Lorey's blog link on the home page. Check it out- his books look amazing!
